Estimated density
We estimate the density of our wood by calculating the volume of each piece using the dimensions and the formula below. If possible we apply the same formula also to one-piece backs, but if a piece is too irregular in shape, volume calculations may not be possible.
As a next step we weigh each piece using a precision scale and then calculate the estimated density as follows:
Estimated density [g/cc] = mass [g] / volume [cc]
Disclaimer We take great care to provide precise measurements to our customers. However, all provided numbers and calculations should be considered estimates rather than exact values. The moisture content of wood (and with it its dimensions and weight) will change based on storage conditions. In addition, the shape of billets is often irregular, especially in one-piece backs, leading to inaccuracies in volume calculations. We also apologize for any inadvertent errors we may have made.
