Speed of sound
We use a Lucchi Meter from Cremona to determine the longitudinal speed of sound in both spruce and maple, which is the accepted gold standard used also by many bow makers.
Wood is not a homogenous material and measurements within one billet may differ depending on the exact position of the transmitter and receiver, especially in maple. We therefore often give a range based on several measurements for each piece rather than one exact value.

Disclaimer: We take great care to provide precise measurements to our customers. However, all provided numbers and calculations should be considered estimates rather than exact values. Billets are not homogeneous and Lucchi Meter values vary across a single piece, especially in maple. We also apologize for any inadvertent errors we may have made.
