MK2 capsules (part of the Schoeps Colette system) are omnidirectional capsules that can capture sound from all directions. These capsules have an almost ruler flat frequency response (for direct sound) and are known for their "natural" sound. They are often used in classical recording (e.g. for small ensembles).

Schoeps MK22 (matched stereo pair) + CMC 6
MK22 capsules (part of the Schoeps Colette system) are "open cardioid" capsules and capture sound primarily from the front. These capsules have a very flat frequency response and were developed primarily as "spot" or "soloist" microphones (e.g. in orchestras).
